was paying direct debit but bank cancelled it one time when i had 4 payments left. they did not notify me so company charged me 鎷?0 late pay charge then 鎷?5 for telling me. made payments by giro slips they then sent me, my fault but often id be a day or 2 late each time 鎷?0 pound charge. then realised id been paying way too long 鎷?08.64 a month, they still billing me monthly. i repaid the intial loan by october 06 an realised i overpaid by 鎷?00 and they still wanting 鎷?00 in fines? asked for a full statement, which was so confusing no one can understand how it works girl on phone no help, this week charged again! as i need too know if they can legally do this as i have more than covered the repayments. any help please, going mad with it all now thanks

Im not sure of the exact answer here but the consumer credit association should be helpful.

Also, you need to see if you can hold the bank to account for cancelling the original transaction.

I don't anyone will be much help without seeing the statements etc. I really think you need to get some advice on this because you may be able to claim some of these charges back. Sounds like a right rip off.

Seems to me you should have just used cash . that way it eliminates all those extra charges from credit...if you had paid cash ,you would be done with the payments, if something was that cheap ,and you had to use credit ,.you probably could not really afford it to begin with ..there are no penalties when you use cash....

you would be best going to the national obudsman with it. I ended up paying 鎷?00 for a 鎷?4 thing on credit and it was their mistake not mine, they wouldnt listen to me or give me anything back, so I went to the ombudsman and got it all sorted.

It all boils down to the contract you signed when taking out the agreement, at the end of the day, the late payments will adversly affect your credit file, so best to clear all of the debt once and for all, then try to negiotiate any refunds. You will have to provide proof of all payments to the company to negotiate any such refund.
